Mary Jane Woodside is the second daughter of Robert H. and Ann (Hill) Woodside. She was born in 1802 in Livingston County, Kentucky.

On November 23, 1822, Mary Jane married William Armstrong in Livingston County, Kentucky. William was born May 31, 1800 in North Carolina to Alexander and Nancy Armstrong. Mary Jane and William had nine known children:
  • Nancy Jane - born 1825 in Livingston County, Kentucky, died 1895 in Illinois. Married Woods L. Hamilton September 17, 1841 in Perry County, Illinois
  • Robert W. - born May 1826 in Livingston County, Kentucky; died sometime after June 1900, in Randolph County, Illinois. Married first Rachel I. Brown on November 2, 1847 in Perry County, Illinois; married second Margaret/Mary A. Simpson April 8, 1850 in Randolph County, Illinois.
  • Martha Ann - born 1829 in Perry County, Illinois. No more is known.

  • James Logan - born April 18, 1838 in Pinckneyville, Perry County, and died July 1920 in Perry County, Illinois; married Mary J. Leard on November 15, 1882 in Perry County. He and his wife are buried at Galum United Presbyterian Church cemetery.
  • Mary Hadassa - born January 12, 1841 and died February 20, 1890 in Perry County, Illinois. Married John P. McCaw September 30, 1873 in Perry County. She and her husband are buried in Hopewell Cemetery.
  • Elizabeth Emma - born 1843 in Perry County, Illinois. No more is known.
Mary Jane died October 27, 1849 in Pinckneyville, Perry County, Illinois. William died December 31, 1858 in Pinckneyville. William is buried at Hopewell Cemetery. Since several of their children are buried at Hopewell, I assume Mary Jane is buried there also.

Martha C. Woodside

Martha C. Woodside was born May 23, 1817 in Kentucky, the 9th child of Robert H. and Ann (Hill) Woodside. On July 3, 1848 she married Joseph G. McKee in Perry County, Illinois. Joseph G. McKee, son of Alexander McKee, was born in Ireland about 1807.

Martha and Joseph McKee had one child:
  • Robert W. - born 1855 in Randolph County, Illinois; died between 1920-1930. Robert married Ella Ida Jones on December 23, 1890 in Perry County, Illinois, and had 5 children: Martha A., Robert Earl, Ivan J., Leona, and Pearl.
Martha died sometime after 1882. Joseph died February 11, 1884 in Sparta, Randolph County, Illinois.

Joseph G. McKee was married before, but his first wife's name is unknown. This first marriage produced 3 known children:
  • Mary Jane - born about 1838 in Illinois, died 1883 in Hopkins County, Texas; married Ananias J. Booth August 10, 1858 in Randolph County, Illinois.
  • George D. - born about 1839 and died January 16, 1870 in Illinois. He married Mary Jane Anderson on March 17, 1868 in Perry County.
  • Joseph A. - born about 1843 and died February 15, 1863 in Illinois.
(NOTE: This is a correction to what I previously had written. I had listed the above 3 children as Martha's, which obviously was incorrect since she did not marry Joseph until 1848. Many thanks to Pamela Treme for bringing this to my attention.)

If anyone has more information on this family I would appreciate hearing from you.
