David Pettit

David Pettit, oldest son of Jonathan Pettit and Susanna DuPue, was born abt. 1793 in Sussex, New Jersey. In the late 1790s his parents moved the family to the Kaskaskia area of Randolph County, Illinois. It was here David married Levina Raper on November 14, 1814.

David and Levina had six known children:
  • Lucinda Eveline (my great great grandmother) was born about August 1815 in Illinois and died September 1887 in Marion, Crittenden County, Kentucky. She married John Morrow Woodside (see earlier posting).
  • Susanah Manerva Pettit, born February 1818 and died July 1880 in Randolph County, Illinois. She married James C. McCormick in June of 1839.
  • Martha Jane Pettit, born January 1820 and died June 1889 in Perry County, Illinois. She married Robert John Woodside in December 1848.
  • John Mordock Rupert Pettit, born March 1824 and died abt. June 1839.
  • Mary Ann Pettit, born October 1825 in St. Clair County, Illinois. Married Isaac Jefferson Carr in August 1844.
  • Deminda Pettit, born October 1828.
David married a second time to Mary Ann Palmer on May 4, 1831 in Randolph County. It is believed his first wife died sometime after the birth of Deminda.

Nothing more is known at this time about David. It is believed he moved away from the area, possibly to Missouri.
