After moving to Kentucky, James married first Ann Brown on February 15, 1811 in Caldwell County, Kentucky. Ann is believed to be the daughter of William Brown and Jennet Smith, but I have no proof of this. Nothing more is known about Ann.
James married second to Nancy Baugher on April 10, 1821 in Livingston County, Kentucky. Nancy was born about 1798 in North Carolina and died about 1844 in Randolph County, Illinois.
James built a watermill on Beaucoup Creek at a crossing called "Woodside Ford" south of Pinckneyville, in Perry County, Illinois.
